Titans happy with draft maneuvers

The Tennessee Titans and GM Jon Robinson made some haughty choices in the 2016 draft, trading away the number one overall selection for a future first round pick and a slew of second round picks, an extra sixth round pick for titansGuard Andy Levitre and a conditional seventh rounder for RB Terrance West.  In all, the Titans draft went extremely well.

Titans coaches are confident that 1st round pick (and 8th overall selection) Jack Conklin will fit right in at right tackle.  In the second round, the Titans had three picks with the standout being Alabama RB Derrick Henry. The third round netted Middle Tennessee State Safety Kevin Byard.

The Titans still need to shore up their defensive backfield but the team should improve enough to attempt a push into the playoffs this season.  With the shrewd moves made in the draft, the Titans have assured themselves a top draft pick next season in a draft class with much more talent then the 2016 class.

Titans visit Patriots

The Tennessee Titans, playoff hopes all but dashed will take on the New England Patriots this weekend and while the game is near meaningless to both squads, the Titans could have something to fight for namely the #1 selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Expect second running back Bishop Sankey to get some playing time after Dexter McCluster broke his left wrist last weekend.

“We’re talking about it, but I’d think that’d be Bishop’s opportunity to come in and have a chance to play that role that Dexter was playing,” Titans interim coach Mike Mularkey said Monday.

Tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today and help cheer on your Tennessee Titans on the road!

Titans running attack back to full speed

David Cobb noticed Eddie George standing with running backs coach Sylvester Croom and responded as a fellow back on the field would.

“I know Eddie was watching during our half-line drill, so that definitely gave me an extra pep in my step, him and coach Croom  behind me. That will definitely do it.”

And that pep, which was hampered when Cobb injured a hammy in the off season, is back with all the pops that he became known for back in college.

“I definitely think that is how I’m going to stay around, if I stay around,’’ Cobb said. “I know what I am here for, so the biggest thing for me right now is to continue to get stronger, continue to stay healthy, and just learn pass pro and different things about the offense.  But I also have to continue to play fast and be physical.”

The Titans open the preseason in the Georgia Dome against the Atlanta Falcons. You can see Cobb and all the titans this year.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today and help cheer on your Tennessee Titans.

Mariota still unsigned

Despite rumors that Surfing is the reason he has yet to sign, the Titans First Round Draft Pick, QB Marcus Mariota and his new team are negotiating offsets to his contract and not, as some are reporting, the need of Mariota to surf before the season.  Basically Mariota wants to get the chance to keep his guaranteed money for the Titans, while the team wants credit if he is cut and moves to another team.

Training camp is less than a month away and you can bet the Titans will have it all squared away before that time arrives.
